What a wonderful post, Britt, thank you! You know your posts are Ever a delight ~ You have a terrific, Positive outlook, and are very articulate, too. ..
I hear you, talking about recharging one's Spirit, and getting in touch with Nature. .. Both of those are particularly restorative ~ and things I need to do more of, myself. .. It's always great hearing from you, because you remind me of such things, and more. ..
~ Blessings to You. ..

This song has been stuck in my head all day long. It is a song by the 1990s alternative band Bush and it just wont stop playing. Greetings to everyone, I hope your week is going well.
I recently re-joined yoga to help with some lower back pain. I am a non-traditional student and all this school has me sitting on my keister, gaining weight and putting pressure on my lower spine, drag drag drag. However, I am grateful for the experience of going back to yoga and becoming more grounded spiritually. For those of you who are not yogi's (I don't mean the bear, ha ha) it is about more than just twisting one's body into funny pretzel like shapes. Yoga is about humbling oneself and reconnecting with the body and the earth and finding balance and peace within. It is about removing ourselves from all of the pressures and labels we lug around every day. Case and point, I am a biology major and I am being forced into thinking much more analytically than I naturally would. It's good for me because I am learning valuable skills and becoming more objective. However, I have found myself overly earthbound as of late. A dear friend has reminded me of this fairly often and I thank her for bringing it up because it is important to me to be aware of it. Yoga has helped me re-connect a bit more lately with the infinite and I am very grateful for this. I also have a wonderful group of birds that visit my bird feeder and I take great joy in watching them feed, specifically the very beautiful cardinals and painted buntings that visit. We also have a large woodpecker that feeds at our house daily and this bird is a total goober.
On the note of enjoying more simplistic things, my wife and I are getting close to our insemination date. We are two women, the prospect of up and coming motherhood has definitely put me more in a 'yin' mindset. The themes of fertility and community are ringing especially true lately. We have also started gardening and composting which also puts one in this mind set of fertility and living gently. All of this to say that I advise anyone who is feeling stressed or 'burned out' or like they aren't being appreciated to turn back to mother nature and find your center in something that re-charges your spirit. Life is a battle against negativity. A wise person once said though that other animals know when to push and work hard and when to relax and go with the flow. Like a bird, there is a time for the vigorous pumping of one's wings and a time to glide in the wind. Find your center. PS Yoda says stay away from the dark side, if you lose your way then let the force be your guide 🙂 All of my love and best wishes. Namaste.
